I’m Jeroen te Strake and the real instigator of the (still upcoming) madness, starting off with my “Hey, I have this idea…”

I’m a software developer, currently immersed in web game development, who moved to London from the Netherlands. Fairly geeky, up to and including D&D. And I used to play Warhammer. And recently started on Magic the Gathering too. Oh dear.

I’m originally a PC gamer – mostly through the convenience of not having to get a seperate console, but the opportunities of going back to old games helps too (considering I’m still playing 10-15 year old games should say enough about that), as well as the expanded opportunities of modding and changing things.

In that sense, one of my fond memories of gaming is digging through the Thunderscape data files and finding several secret areas in there. Considering how there’s no real walkthroughs out there to help you find out, I actually did quite well…

Which leads me to one my genres. Thunderscape was my real introduction to Role-Playing games. While there were earlier ones I sort of played, and many better ones followed, it was the first I got addicted to and I’ve finished a few times. Still love that game, even though it’s not on the list.

Still, I remain an RPG fan, followed by adventures, strategy games and simulations. Baldur’s Gate 2 being a big favourite of mine, together with Planescape: Torment and the Icewind Dale series. I’ve lost countless hours to the Civilization games and Theme Park still makes me smile. Bioware rocks.

As mentioned above, as of early 2012 I’ve started software development in web games. A dream come true. I will try to stay impartial – don’t worry, our studio has no games on the list.
